The Mazda 6 range has an all-new model, the 6MPS. The designation, standing for Mazda Performance Series. This is the first high performance version of the mid-sized saloon. The car boasts a turbo-charged engine, four-wheel drive capabilities and an enhanced interior design.

The Mazda 6 MPS is the first high performance range-topping car of this size. The car uses four-wheel drive technology that is often seen in the Japanese brands.

The 6 MPS uses a turbo-charged engine with direct injection. It is specially designed  to address the issue of turbo lag while improving fuel economy. The engine is a 2.3-litres, one of the smallest in this class.

The 6 MPS’ exterior has received a number of changes over the standard car, overall the effect is barely noticeable. The car boasts a taller bonnet that houses the top mounted intercooler. The car has also received side skirts and large alloy wheels. The front bumper has also been improved and twin exhausts have been added.

Changes to the car’s interior design include the addition of sports seats for improved comfort and support, and metal pedals for improved feel. The 6 MPS comes as a single specification model with a high level of standard equipment.

    Practicality

The Mazda 6 is relatively inexpensive, with low insurance rates and minimum servicing charges. In addition to a low asking price, reasonable fuel economy will ensure that the Mazda 6 will continue to be economical.

The front passengers have plenty of head and legroom. The rear passengers will have less room than the front passengers, but will be adequate for most passengers. The boot space is smaller than previous models but it is still spacious enough for most needs.

The control panel is clean and functional. Buttons are clear and concise, and gauges are located where you would expect to find them. Basic functions are duplicated on the steering wheel for easy access.

The front seats are comfortable and supportive. Engine and road noise are successfully minimized. The rear seats are usually supportive, but don’t offer much support when taking turns enthusiastically.

The Mazda 6 rides low, but climbing into the cabin will not pose a problem as the wide door apertures offer good access to both the front and rear seats. The boot sits low and the lid opens wide, allowing for easy loading and unloading of even large items.

Parking the Mazda 6 is easy. With light steering and good all-round vision, parking sensors are not needed. Thanks to the great visibility, it’s easy to see the boundaries of the car and judge distances.

    Life Style

The Mazda 6 offers decent driver appeal. The 2.3-litre turbo-charged engine delivers excellent power and acceleration. The gearchange is very good, and the brakes are excellent. The steering is firm but lacks genuine feel. The 6 MPS is very comfortable and does a good job of being both a sports car and a saloon.

This would make an excellent family vehicle. It is plenty spacious enough and provides loads of comfort. A family could easily use the Mazda 6 as a family vehicle. The vehicle provides realistic and practical family transportation.

This is not likely to be a good choice for first time buyers. The car may be difficult for novice drivers to handle, not to mention the purchase price is high as well as high insurance rates. There are much more suitable cars for novice drivers.

The car boasts a high standard of equipment and a high quality feel. Recent models from Mazda have done much to raise the company’s image as a legitimate sports car manufacturer.

    Security and Safety

The car comes equipped standard with remote central locking, an engine immobiliser and a security alarm system. This is a very likely target for thieves and a visual deterrent may not be a bad idea.

Safety has not been overlooked. The car features standard airbags, ESP and ABS, improved grip, excellent braking and traction thanks to the four-wheel drive system.

    The Finishing Touches

The car’s standard stereo unit is aBose six-CD autochanger and radio. The sound quality is good and the systems clear display and straightforward controls make it easy to use.

The car’s cabin is very attractive with leather seats, steering wheel and gearlever. The cabin is comprised of mostly dark colors and the trim is of good quality. The backlighting is red and gives tstandard and wehe cabin a very classy and quality feel.

    Summary

The car’s high level of performance and specification has not hindered its ability to provide a comfortable ride. The car successfully delivers both performance and comfort making it an all-round good choice for buyers.
